This is my variant cover for X-Men #1 coming out in May from Marvel comics. Showing the pencils, digital colors and the original layouts for the cover.

Hope you dig!

this is MOST excellent! i am SO looking forward to this issue.

speaking of issues… i have one.

since jubilee was changed into a vampire, there have been a few comic book covers she’s been on and the artist illustrates her in her new gear, but STILL SHOWS HER HAVING HER PYROTECHNIC ABILITIES - WHICHSHENOLONGERHAS.

WHY??? i mean, seriously - WHY??? WHY DOES THIS OVERSIGHT EVEN EXIST????

it (clearly) annoys me. i seriously do not understand it.

it seriously is a paf-tease to those of us who would like to see her regain her powers.

I made 6 poster boards (well 7, just didn’t get a chance to scan the last one) which are 22” x 26” physically. I originally made the first six on .25” foam boards which was nice for durability, but SUCKED when I wanted to get them scanned. I couldn’t find ANY places that had flatbed color scanners that large. So, I took it to a place that scanned them in 4 parts each and had to edit them together digitally myself WITHOUT the use of Photoshop. So in a few places, you might notice a double image or not a clean line - but I did the best I could..! I made all of these by cutting out EVERY single image by hand and gluing them to the boards (most of the images came from actual comics I owned, some from online images I found)..! I LOVE these boards and I happen to think they look great..! ^_^

ok there’s a reason i am posting this thrice: the top image is my own personal scan, the middle (i think) is a digital comic version i found on the intercom, and the bottom is (either a digital or TPB scan i found on the intercom) from a spanish language version that i just replaced the words into english. they are of good size and different qualities, but i like them all..! perhaps my favorite alan davis illustration..!

from Excalibur v1 042

Rachel Summers/Phoenix sketches by Alan Davis.

coincidental that i was JUST thinking TODAY as i was about to post a cropped page of excalibur of the group drawn by alan davis - i was thinking that while that the image i’m referring to (and will post shortly) is a really excellent and even iconic looking illustration and one of alan davis’ best, his work on excalibur is mostly the only part of his portfolio i like. hmm…

and these look from those days, and i think they look great..!
